Stunningly curved

Designed by architect Alex Haw, the Atmos Studio stairways were created using digital tools to form their sinuous curves.

The stair is a continuation and intensification of the simple graphic skirting board lines that trace their way through the house. As they turn the corner into the stair void, they expand like a genie released from a lamp, curling and separating and bifurcating from the wall to form the delicate edge of the stair treads, lifting into the air to rise as the veil of the balustrade.

However, maybe not everybody would like this type of design in their house/flat/apartment.

Some might add that it is deformed or similar to the reflexion of an image from a funhouse mirror.

That is to say the research and the finished product is there and the curves make from this staircase something just unique and stunning. Who dislike curves?

The pattern of the parquet flooring subtly rotates across each step to mediate the grain of the floors above and below.

Your thoughts are always welcome!

Harnessing digital production and fabrication to form a seamless and deeply sculptural experience; a big step forward!
